I find it inspiring to see how our efforts to obtain useful solutions for our customers and clients not only leads to better decisions, but also to more insight into coherence. This brings about a sense of communality (it is ‘our’ model). This often turns out to be a spin-off, which is often not mentioned on forehand but much appreciated afterwards. So yes… math is very important, but what it does to those involved should not be forgotten.
With an education in business economics, combined with a technical background, I am strongly analytically oriented. With the system dynamics models we develop at Copernicos, we connect many different domains and areas of attention. My educational background helps a lot in attaining these connective goals. Technology, yes. Finance, where possible, but the connection between people, their ambitions, their knowledge and experiences, is equally as important. Communicating what we do and how we construe our models, is at least as important as the solution itself. We therefor always look for a form that works best for the customer.
